Q&A Is a Resume a Must?

Although the Common App offers a section on extracurricular activities, do you recommend that we fill out a resume describing our extracurriculars in more detail anyways?

An extracurricular resume is often a good idea for your college applications. They give you extra space to explain your extracurricular activities. In addition, the resume can allow you to arrange your activities thematically to convey your passions.

That said, you should be careful if you choose to include one. You don’t want to make a lot of extra work for the admissions officers. Be sure to keep the resume concise and to the point. It doesn’t need to be a formal resume with your address, GPA, etc. Only include what you absolutely have to. If you can include all the information you need to on the Common App, then there’s no need to include a resume. Include it only if you need it.
